Lairg Parish Church is situated in a prominent position on the hill, above the War Memorial and Little Loch Shin, in the centre of the village.
Built in 1847 to a simple Gothic design, the interior was renovated in 2001, providing a comfortable, bright and airy sanctuary for worship. In 1998 a church hall was added to the North side of the Church. This is a very well used facility for many church activities and functions throughout the year. The Hall is used for the regular meetings of the Presbytery and by some other organisations.
Services will begin at 10.30 am with effect from Sunday 1st April 2018(times are alternated on an annual basis with Rogart), followed by tea and coffee and fellowship on special occasions. In recent times we have experimented with the Messy Church format. There are 101 Members and Adherents on the church roll.
The previous Parish Minister had an excellent relationship with the primary school and visited on a regular basis. We had a very successful carol concert for the school at Christmas and our church was packed with children, teachers, parents and members of other denominations in the village. The Church Guild meets regularly and has a Guild link with St. Lawrence Church in Forres. A Prayer Meeting is held on a weekly basis, meeting in a member’s home. There is a Craft and Craic Group which meets fortnightly, raising considerable funds for the church, while also enjoying fellowship together.
The Church is used by our Episcopalian friends for their morning worship each Sunday.
We have recently joined with our friends in the Episcopal Church and Christian Fellowship Lairg to worship together over Christmas and are planning a Walk of witness on Good Friday and a children’s Holiday Club on the 10th April 2017
Lairg’s Charity No. is SC020871. The parish number is 402260.
